Research Interests

The nervous system controls virtually every aspect of our daily activity. A cumulative stress of this system hampers the normal function which resulting in neurological disorders, especially in the aging population. We aim to delineate the fundamental mechanisms of how genetic factors contribute to the pathogenesis of neurodegeneration in cellular and systemic levels by using integrative approaches.

Our current focus is to

(1) engineer molecular probes for interrogating functional communications within the brain,

(2) identify molecular factors that maintain the cellular and systemic homeostasis, and

(3) delineate the potential pathogenic mechanism of selected risk molecules.
